Postdoctoral positions

We are seeking creative, self-motivated post-doctoral fellows to join us to conduct research in the design and understanding of solution-processed hybrid semiconductors for optoelectronics and spintronics. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Synthesis of colloidal quantum dots, perovskites, and the assembly of inorganic nanostructures

  • Design, fabrication, and characterization of optoelectronic devices (photodetectors, light-emitting diodes, lasers)

  • Ultrafast optical spectroscopy of hybrid semiconductors

Postdocs will be supervised by the PI while having sufficient freedom to develop their own ideas, be supported to publish high-impact research and deliver presentations at leading conferences. Successful candidates are expected to actively engage in a collaborative spirit and train graduate and undergraduate researchers.

The starting date is flexible in the Fall 2023. Please contact mengxia.liu@yale.edu with a cover letter, a 2-page research proposal, a CV including a list of peer-reviewed publications, and the names of at least two references.

PhD positions

We are looking for PhD candidates who have the passion to pursue competitive research at the frontier of semiconductor materials, electronic devices, and nanoscale physics. Experimental work can range from the design of new nanostructured materials and devices to ultrafast spectroscopy.

The application deadline for Fall 2024 graduate admission is December 2023. Students with an academic background in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, and Chemical Engineering are encouraged to apply. If you are interested in joining our group, please send your CV, cover letter (including your background and interest), and transcripts to
mengxia.liu@yale.edu.

Visiting students and scholars

We welcome visiting students (undergraduate, master's, doctoral students) and scholars from all around the world to carry out thesis or research projects in our group. Please send your CV and electronic transcripts (for visiting students) to mengxia.liu@yale.edu.
